Tourism Business Essentials

Developed in partnership with the tourism industry, Tourism Business Essentials is a series of informative guides created to help tourism businesses in B.C. become more successful.

The first guides were developed almost 10 years ago, starting with a handful of titles such as Ads & Brochures that Sell. Since then, additional topics have been added and existing guides modified to address current trends within the industry. New titles are continually being developed and added to the series, so be sure to check back often.

These guides are easy to read, easy to understand and a must-have for any business competing in today's dynamic tourism market. Click here to view and download all of the Tourism Business Essentials guides for FREE.

Online Reputation Management Workshop

Tourism British Columbia is pleased to be able to offer an Online Reputation Management workshop as part of our Tourism Business Essentials series. The FREE 3-hour workshop is available to interested business operators and Destination Marketing Organizations in BC. The workshop will be professionally facilitated by Daniel Edward Craig.

Increasingly, travelers are bypassing traditional sources of trip information and advice and using social networks to consult sources they trust: other travelers and friends. The trend has given rise to a critical new function in tourism: online reputation management, the process of monitoring, reacting to and generating online reviews and content.

Workshop topics include:

  • Why online reputation management is essential to the tourism industry
  • Creating a virtuous cycle: using customer satisfaction to build loyalty and advocacy, which in turn drives reputation and demand
  • Time-saving tools for listening and analyzing reviews and feedback
  • Best practices for reacting and responding to reviews and feedback
  • Building awareness and shaping reputation by generating reviews and content
  • Examples and success stories from the travel industry in BC and beyond

To receive more information about the Online Reputation Management workshop, please contact tourismbusinessessentials@gov.bc.ca
