Regional Workforce Tables

News Releases

The BC Jobs Plan commits to the creation of Regional Workforce Tables to bring people together to discuss how to best align training programs to meet regional needs.

Regional Workforce Tables will be regionally-driven groups, with key leaders from industry, labour, employers, First Nations, educators, training service providers, economic development organizations and others. Regional Workforce Tables will apply local knowledge and expertise to identify economic development opportunities and inform alignment of training programs with demand for jobs.

The Northeast and the Northwest of the province – which includes the North Coast, Nechako and Northeast Development regions - will be the pilot locations for the Regional Workforce Tables. The knowledge gained in the pilot programs will be transferable to other regions in BC.

As a starting point, Regional Workforce Table Open House Forums will give regional leaders the opportunity to help build the foundations for a workforce table in their region.

Following each Open House Forum, each Regional Workforce Table will begin to:
- Outline regional economic opportunities and labour market needs
- Identify opportunities and make recommendations to align existing training and labour market programs to meet employment opportunities
- Continue to ensure that local training programs are aligned with economic demand.

Information on each Regional Workforce Table can be found by clicking on the appropriate economic development region of the province.
