Various research reports and publications relevant to land-based activity can be found below.
Sector Profiles
The Sector Profiles provide an overview on the size of the tourism sector. They include both a demographic profile and travel characteristics of travellers who participated in the land based activities (information sources used include: Travel Activities & Motivation Survey and/or the International Traveller Survey). They also contain information about other activities these travellers participated in while on overnight trips, plus information on other destinations (besides BC) these travellers have been to in the past. Towards the end of each profile, you will find information on the economic impact of the sector, and an update on any emerging trends associated with the sector. They're approximately eight pages in length each and are compiled using various information sources.

Okanagan Valley Consumer Wine
Research 2008
In 2008, the Okanagan Valley Consumer Wine Research
was conducted by Research, Planning and Evaluation, Tourism
British Columbia in partnership with Thompson
Okanagan Tourism Association, and participating
wineries in the Okanagan Valley.
This study was undertaken to determine the specific
attributes and appeals of the Okanagan Valley wine
tourism product and to provide data on the
characteristics of wine travellers who frequent the
region's wineries in terms of traveller and trip
characteristics. Travellers were interviewed at
seven area wineries.

Columbia Valley Consumer Golf Research 2008
In 2008, the
Columbia Valley Consumer Golf Research
was conducted by Research, Planning and Evaluation, Tourism British Columbia in partnership with Kootenay Tourism Association, and the Columbia Valley Golf Association.
This study was undertaken to determine the specific attributes and appeals of the Columbia Valley golf courses and to provide data on the characteristics of golfers who play at the area's courses in terms of traveller and trip characteristics. Golfers were interviewed at eight golf courses.

BC Nordic Ski Facility Client Survey (2007-2008)
In the winter of 2007/08, the
BC Nordic Ski Facility Client Survey (2007-2008)
was conducted by Research, Planning and Evaluation, Tourism British Columbia in partnership with the British Columbia Nordic Marketing Society (BCNMS), and various British Columbia nordic ski facilities.
The project was initiated through Tourism British Columbia's Experiences BC program. This report includes information on total trip characteristics such as: trip purpose, planning, duration, length of stay in BC, destination decision-making, primary destination, type of accommodation used, other activities, expenditures, likelihood of returning and travel party demographics.
It also includes information specific to the nordic portion of the ski trip including: motivation for ski trip, amount of time spent skiing on trip, type of nordic skiing participated in, previous ski trip frequency and experience, info sources used when planning ski trip, reasons for picking-up skiing, importance and satisfaction with services at ski facility and likelihood of future skiing in BC.
BC Short-Haul Golf Market Study: Vancouver, Calgary & Edmonton
In 2008, Tourism British Columbia, in partnership with Tourism Kamloops, produced the BC Short-Haul Golf Market Study: Vancouver, Calgary & Edmonton
report examining short-haul golf tourists' travel behaviour and their British Columbia golf destination awareness and imagery. Telephone interviews were conducted with 250 golf tourists from Vancouver, Edmonton and Calgary.
Characteristics and Economic Impacts of Commercial Nature-Based Tourism
Research, Planning and Evaluation on behalf of the Wilderness Tourism Association initiated a project to study the economic impacts of commercial nature-based tourism in the spring of 2002. The
Characteristics of Commercial Nature-Based Tourism Report
describes the characteristics including the constraints to growth and the overview of economic impacts of commercial nature-based tourism sector. The second report,
Economic Impacts of Commercial Nature-Based Tourism Report, outlines the economic impacts of the sector in more detail.
