Sector Profiles

The Sector Profiles provide an overview on the size of the tourism sector. They include both a demographic profile and travel characteristics of travellers who participated in activities (information sources used include: Travel Activities & Motivation Survey and/or the International Traveller Survey). They also contain information about other activities these travellers participated in while on overnight trips, plus infomation on other destinations (besides BC) these travellers have been to in the past. Towards the end of each profile, you will find information on the economic impact of the sector, and an update on any emerging trends associated with the sector. They're approximately eight pages in length each and are complied using various information sources.

Guest Ranchers Business Survey 2008/2009

The BC Guest Ranchers Business Survey was initiated through Tourism British Columbia's Experiences BC program.

The following report provides details of this comprehensive business survey that was distributed among British Columbia’s guest ranch businesses. The participation businesses (33% response rate) provided 2008 and 2009 business and client data.  Analysis provided in this report should not be used to represent or reflect the guest ranch sector in British Columbia as a whole.

This research was made possible with the support of the British Columbia Guest Ranchers Association (BCGRA) executive and members, as well as all of the businesses who willingly and freely supplied information regarding the operations of their guest ranch business. 

Snowmobile Operators Survey 2008/2009

The BC Snowmobile Operators Survey was initiated through Tourism British Columbia's Experiences BC program.

The following report provides details of this comprehensive business survey that was distributed among British Columbia’s commercial snowmobile operators. This group serves an estimated annual client base of over 45,000 persons who represent a diverse group of Canadians, Americans and snowmobile enthusiasts from around the world. Results of this survey cover the period from September 2008 to April 2009. 

This research would not have been possible without the support of the executive and members of the British Columbia Commercial Snowmobile Operators Association (BCCSOA), the British Columbia Snowmobile Federation (BCSF), and all of the businesses who willingly and freely supplied information regarding the operations of their snowmobile tour and/or rental business.

Canadian Spa Sector Report (2006)

Tourism British Columbia, in partnership with the Canadian Tourism Commission, Alberta Economic Development, Travel Manitoba, Ontario Ministry of Tourism, Tourism Québec, Spas Relais Santé, Economic Development Canada-Québec, Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency, Leading Spas of Canada, Premier Spas of Ontario, have produced the Canadian Spa Sector Report (2006) which is an in-depth report on the spa industry in Canada and British Columbia.
