Accessible Tourism
Travelers with disabilities make up one of the fastest growing tourism market opportunities. One in eight people worldwide lives with a disability; in North America alone, people with disabilities spend more than $13 billion each year on travel.
2010 Legacies Now, the Ministry and numerous tourism partners are working to increase accessible tourism in B.C. and help to make B.C. a premier accessible travel destination.
For information on accessible businesses, accessibility ratings and resources, see 2010 Legacies Now Website and the Accessible Tourism Strategy.
Cruise Ship Sector
The cruise sector generates millions in direct annual spending in B.C. and is expected to be a growth sector over the long term. The Province works in partnership with Cruise BC and cruise industry partners to ensure that cruise visitors are met with world-class facilities, services and experiences during their voyage in B.C. The Ministry and Cruise BC work collaboratively to develop the cruise industry, enhance tourism growth and promote economic development throughout B.C.
Cruise BC is an association of port authorities, destination marketing agencies and federal and provincial governments. Cruise BC works cooperatively with cruise lines to strategically develop the untapped potential that exists to make Canada's Inside Passage and British Columbia's port cities world-class cruise destinations.
